Call me biased, but I fundamentally believe that Londoners have the best sense of style. Sure, the less-is-more approach of Parisians means they have the monopoly on classic styling, and New York will always be a hub for fashion people. But in London, the energy is different. It’s cooler, unapologetic and always original. In part, this makes British fashion feel grungier and grittier than other cities (anyone who has walked through Brick Lane knows exactly what I mean), but in other areas, the capital masters polish with an almost regal air. Either way, these stylish dressers are my first point of call when in need of a fresh dose of fashion inspo

Anyone who lives in the UK knows that summer is typically very tricky for us to navigate style-wise. One week, a heatwave will hit, sending us headfirst into lightweight linen pieces and pretty broderie dresses whilst we sell out the country’s stock of fans. The next, a month’s worth of rain will arrive in a week, leaving our ballet flats and blouses in the back of our wardrobes. It’s a bit of a minefield, to say the least.
After falling prey to the weather one too many times last summer, I decided to follow the lead of stylish Londoners this time around. Be it denim shorts with a layered tee or lightweight linen paired with sleek flip-flops, Londoners know how to make the most of their practical basics, and these seven looks prove that they are masters of their craft.
What London Girls Are Wearing in Summer 2026
1. Vest + Bloomer Trousers + Flip-Flops

Style Notes: If personality dressing is the name of the game, in my opinion, no one does it quite like Tia Dewitt (pictured above). Keeping her base timeless with a white tank top and black flip-flops, she uses her cutesy pink bloomer trousers to inject playful energy into her summer look. Plus, her crocheted hat is a fail-safe way to keep the sun’s rays at bay whilst adding to the outfit.

2. Layered T-Shirt + Denim Shorts + Boots

Style Notes: When the weather is unpredictable, you need to be ready for anything. Opting for a knee-high biker boot, Liv Madeline’s layered T-shirt and denim Bermuda shorts pairing is all about practicality. Better still, it would look just as chic with a kitten heel or trainer when the weather brightens up.

From the festival fields to the streets of London, these boots will serve you well.
3. Vest + Lace-Trim Midi Skirt + Flip-Flops

Style Notes: Lace trims aren’t just reserved for French women and lingerie; Londoners are having their fun, too. Adding a romantic finish to an otherwise simple ensemble, Chloe Kath Butler’s white tank and flip-flops feel summer-ready when paired with butter yellow. And her oval specs? The icing on the cake.

4. Kaftan + Linen Trousers + Clogs

Style Notes: If you’re a modest dresser and looking for a way to keep covered whilst still looking chic this summer, Marylin‘s recent look is one to pin for later. Her breezy white kaftan and linen trousers are cool and relaxed, and by adding a pendant necklace, you create a point of interest which doesn’t feel overdone.

5. Matching Set + Sandals

Style Notes: Is there anything chicer in summer than a two-piece linen set? This is the easy way to look polished without having to think about it. For a cooler finish, opt for a black version rather than white for summer in the city.

Cou Cou makes some of the comfiest bloomers on the market.
6. Floral Co-Ord + Wedges

Style Notes: As far as quintessential London style goes, Lucy Williams sits miles above the rest. With inherent cool-girl energy, she’s found a way to make even classic florals feel fresh again this summer. In a matching Dior blouse and miniskirt, she toughens up the cute print with black accessories. From her shoes to her bag, it’s a masterclass in London style.

Take it from Lucy: clutch bags are so back.
7. Tank Top + Poplin Skirt

Style Notes: Come summer, skirts are synonymous with summer. Be it a fluid slip skirt or a billowing broderie maxi, you can’t really get through the season without one. In London, the skirts are slightly different—think sculptural, utility styles in neutral colours used to break up summer staples, just as Brittany Bathgate has (pictured above). You’ll see it year after year, dressed up or down depending on the occasion.
