The Y2K era of fashion is long gone, but It girls have been feeling nostalgic. Skin-baring trends that were popular during the early 2000s continue to come back, and this summer is no exception. Maybe in part due to the extreme heat this season, the fashion set has opted to wear one specific top trend from that era, and styling it in a 2026 way: a low-cut halter top. The most recent celebrity to do so is Anya Taylor-Joy.
While in NYC promoting her new miniseries Lucky, Taylor-Joy stepped out in an all-gray ensemble which included a plissé halter top by Gen Z-approved brand Gimaguas, a pair of pants with a skirt attachment by Paloma Wool, and black strappy heels by Reformation. While a low-cut halter top may be deemed “dated,” the actress styled it in a perfectly modern and chic way, especially with the single-color palette. A halter top can, indeed, look cool and effortless as such.
