Shop in Shop is a monthly column dedicated to rounding up the latest arrivals, seasonal trends, and styles from our favorite brands and retailers.
Whether you call it a winter arc or “the great lock-in,” fall is the season where beauty routines truly shine—especially mine. I’m wearing eyeshadow. I’m doing red-light therapy before bed. I’m trading my slick-back buns for heat styling. Everything shifts once there’s a crisp chill in the air, and I’m not mad about it. I feel quite the opposite, actually—it means I can put all my energy into looking my absolute best without the threat of sweat ruining my makeup or humidity reverting my hair.
I can’t get through this major transition without the help of my tried-and-true brands. In this story, I cover hair, makeup, and skincare with a big emphasis on self-care. The products range from $6 to $350 and include viral brand Shark Beauty, fashion-girl staple Quince, and the OGs, Walmart, CVS, and eos. Enjoy!
Who What Wear editors are no strangers to a Shark Beauty device. Yes, we love the brand’s mega-viral devices (CryoGlow, I’m looking at you), but we also love the hair tools that transform type 4 curls in just a few passes and blow-dry thick strands with ease. Fall is the season of silk presses, blowouts, and heat-styled hair, so I trust me when I say I’ll happily turn to the Shark Flexstyle® IonCurl Air Styler & Curler for all of my needs. I also tend to take my self-care a bit more seriously this time of year, so the Depuffi will soon be a permanent fixture on my vanity. (Image credit: @alyssabrascia, @emilisindlev, @annadzhenderson)

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been spending your time scrolling through the fashion and home sections on Quince and completely glossing over the beauty section. That ends today. Quince carries some of my favorite skincare and wellness brands, including True Botanicals, Supergoop!, Fresh, and more. I love buying the latest fashion trends and my self-care essentials all in one place. Get a peek at my fall skincare and bodycare lineup below. CVS isn’t just the store I run into for a last-minute toothbrush or tweezers before a trip. It’s where I go for affordable beauty favorites, including those from brands like Beauty of Joseon, Olaplex, and more. Honestly, I’m more experimental with my makeup in the fall and winter to counteract my boring cold-weather outfits. It’s so much more fun to play with makeup when you don’t have to worry about wasting an expensive product.

Eos and I go way back. I wore the original lip balm in middle school, and later upgraded to the classic shaving cream and body sprays. My latest obsession is the Dewy Lip Shine. I carry at least two in my purse at all times, and I scatter the rest around my apartment for emergency touch-ups. As we enter autumn, I’m topping off all my lip combos with this hydrating shine and lathering the whipped oil butter on my body until further notice. I don’t know if I would be the beauty editor I am today if, as a kid, I didn’t get lost in the Walmart beauty aisles while my mom grocery shopped. Fast forward two decades, and the only difference is that I typically browse online now. This is all to say: Don’t sleep on Walmart for fragrance finds. If you like to update your scents every season, Walmart has everything from luxury fragrances to under-$50 body sprays. (Image credit: @nikki.chwatt, @sandrashehab, @aspencristi)
