Thank you Science Guy
We all know Bill Nye. Science Guy, patron saint of bow ties, and in recent years, deliverer of some cold, hard truths to the adults out there who need a good talking to.
Back in May of 2019 he appeared on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver to discuss climate change, and by “discuss” I mean yell at all the morons out there who still don’t believe it’s real, demonstrate the devastating effects climate change will have (and is already having) on the planet, and drop an f-bomb.
And now the Science Guy is back again, this time on Tik Tok (which is the first essential piece of news here, Bill Nye has Tik Tok) to explain why it’s important to wear a mask to stop the spread of COVID to those out there who, intentionally or not, are still just not getting it.
First he showed a map of the USA highlighting where people are wearing masks, then superimposed a second map on top of that one, showing where people in the country are getting sick.
And, surprise surprise, the areas where people are largely not wearing masks are the areas in which the most people are getting COVID.
Next, he explained why anti-maskers are wrong about the coronavirus being able to pass through masks, “Because viruses don’t travel by themselves. No, they travel in little droplets of spit and snot. And the fibers [of masks]are a tangle.”
You can watch the full video below, or by clicking the link here. And please don’t forget to pass this along to the anti-maskers in your life.
@billnye I don’t know who needs to hear this but… #masks work. Wear one. Carry on… #tiktokpartner #learnontiktok
