2D Bags: A Trend We Have Many Slack Convos About

When my Slack messages begin returning to the same topic again and again, it tells me one thing loud a clear—this is about to be big. That’s exactly what occurred to me when my fellow editors started dropping messages with bags from the S/S 21 the Givenchy, Jil Sander, and Hermès collections. All of them with sleek, slim, two-dimensions silhouettes that practically look like manila envelopes.

These paper-thin filing folder bags instantly read as fresh and cool. A major departure from the oversize bag trend that popped up a few seasons back, 2D bags might not have as much storage, but are certainly just as eye-catching. Sized to fit your phone and ID (and not much else), they already have me thinking about how I can streamline what I pack into my bag. Ahead, let’s dive into the 2D bag trend that has all of our editors excited.

There’s always one standout bag trend that emerges on the runways each season. For spring, we simply couldn’t look away from the cool 2D bags that we spotted at brands including Jil Sander, Givenchy, and Hermès.

With looks snapped fresh off the runway from Givenchy, celebs were quick to hop on the 2D bag trend. As these styles enter the market this spring, you can expect to see even more styles entering their closets.

Kaia Gerber styled to perfection in head-to-toe Givenchy.

I actually want to repeat Kendall Jenner’s entire look, but especially love this bag.

You can see just how slim this 2D bag is since it practically blends into the floor.

The fashion set can’t seem to get enough of the 2D bag trend. One of the standout styles? Louis Vuitton’s Coussin bag. It shares a flat, envelope-style silhouette with other 2D styles, with a slightly more padded shape than some of the other bags on the runways.

Stamped with Louis Vuitton’s iconic monogram and finished with a flat shape, I promise this bag will be one of the biggest styles this season.

Just wow. I cannot get over this Givenchy bag.

Perfect for tucking under your arm.
