After an alley-oop on ice, hockey world reacts to Zegras’ unbelievable assist

We’ve all seen the Michigan, but have you ever seen the Michigan assist?

Enter Trevor Zegras.

In the second period of an Anaheim DucksBuffalo Sabres game on Tuesday, Zegras picked the puck up onto his stick behind the net, and instead of trying to it score himself like Mike Legg in 1996, smoothly lobbed it over the net for teammate Sonny Milano to hammer home — creating one of the most unique goals in hockey history.

A goal with that kind of skill could make waves in a neighbourhood ball hockey game, or even in a video game.

Doing it in the National Hockey League? Oh my goodness.

Of course, the hockey world lit up on Twitter.

Zegras might’ve even drawn inspiration from seeing it in a video game.

The goal was so spectacular that both players couldn’t believe what they’d just done, holding speechless expressions immediately after scoring the goal.

Some people even called Zegras a magician, something that used to be reserved for “Magic Man” Pavel Datsyuk.

Believe it or not, Datsyuk even attempted this himself, but it didn’t produce a goal.
