After the Longest January in History, Here's What to Wear in February

After perhaps the longest January on record, we’re all ready for the arrival of February. Ordinarily, February brings with it the excitement and buzz and sometimes bonkers outfits of fashion month. While there are still shows and presentations happening virtually, it’s safe to say we’re in need of inspiration more than ever.

Most of us are already looking forward to spring so that we can wear pretty colours, floaty dresses, and chunky sandals that are tempting us in our favourite retailers’ new-in sections. Still, February calls for ensembles that will help keep the lingering chill at bay, and striking a balance between springlike and cosy isn’t always easy—at least, it wouldn’t be without these ensembles at our disposal.

Below, you’ll find nine outfits to try this February that’ll make you feel that spring is just around the corner but that’ll also ensure you won’t risk freezing. Keep scrolling to see these looks and, if they’re not already in your wardrobe, to shop the pieces you need to re-create them.

Style Notes: One of the easiest ways to start transitioning your wintery wardrobe into spring is to start switching out key items—think coats and jumpers—in darker shades for pastel or light hues. Loïcka Grâce demonstrates this perfectly with her light-yellow blazer.

Style Notes: With the warmer months well and truly on the way, now’s the perfect time to start wearing your favourite dresses once again. Just add a pair of chunky, track-sole boots and, if need be, opaque tights to keep the heat in.

Style Notes: The Oxford shirt is back on the style agenda for spring/summer 2021 and is ideal for wearing with everything from jeans to leather skirts (and, yes, leggings).

Style Notes: As you may have already read on Who What Wear, pink is going to be the colour of spring. We love how Lucy Williams has toughened up the jolly hue by pairing it with black leather trousers and on-trend clunky boots.

Style Notes: Second-skin tops featured heavily on the spring/summer 2021 runway, and Elif has found the perfect way to start wearing them now: tucked into a midi skirt and finished with thick-soled loafers.

Style Notes: Add a springtime twist to your knitwear collection with a floral-embroidered cardigan. The Dôen style below has been on our wish list since last year, and we’re still obsessed with it.

Style Notes: One way to make your outfits feel fresh again is to wear one colour from top to toe, and no shade is fresher than white. Tuck a simple cardigan into a pair of matching trousers and you’ll feel instantly polished.

Style Notes: Ease yourself out of your thick-weave jumpers by slipping into a knitted dress instead. No one needs to know that you’ve got your leggings on underneath.

Style Notes: Skirts aren’t the only option for your bottom half. Why not pop on a pair of woollen shorts with some tights? Then, add a fashionable finish with a pie-crust collar and a checked blazer.
