If you’re a regular reader of Who What Wear UK, you’ll know that Alexa Chung has been our number one girl, right from the start. Her mix of fancy, laid-back and preppy styles—always with an unexpected edge th Brits have a knack for— gets us feeling all kinds of things. Just how does she manage to nail every single look? It’s an art form, surely. Anyway, if you’re with us in our Alexa appreciation you’ll be just as pleased to hear about her joining forces with one of her original fashion friends, Mulberry, this summer for one corker of a collaboration.
We all remember the original Mulberry Alexa handbag she inspired—aka the It bag of the 2010s— well, the power coupling is back in celebration of the brand’s 50th anniversary. Rather than just an inspiration and namesake this time though, Alexa is at the reins in terms of design and we already know she’s particularly skilled in that department thanks to her eponymous line. The fashion icon has created a capsule that stars two brand new styles— a roomy shoulder bag, the Big Guy, and a compact clutch, the Little Guy. Okay, we’re fans of most things Alexa touches, but with names like these what’s not to love? Seriously, just wait until you see how good they are.
Inspired by the effortless style of ‘70s style icons, with a little of Alexa’s personal style in there (think vintage romance paired with masculine formality), these are bags to cherish for a long time to come. Alexa herself says, “I wanted to make sure that [they]would endure, become a future classic” and we think that’s pretty much guaranteed. With features taken from the OG Alexa style, like satchel-style buckles and top-handles, these new designs also feel a little more refined and grown-up—especially in the classic leathers, earthy suedes and rich velvets. If you’re a longtime fan of Mulberry’s playful side though, opt for the peppy Apple Green or Denim Blue.
Of course, in line with Mulberry’s ongoing sustainability goals the Big Guy and Little Guy bags are crafted from materials which are sourced from environmentally rated tanneries and made in the brand’s carbon neutral Somerset factories. To be loved and worn forever is the goal.
As if two brand new styles weren’t enough, there’s also some complementary new Alexas dropping in the same modern colour palette which we’re happy to welcome into the fold.
The styles have all launched today, so keep scrolling to browse and shop the full collection. We’ve only got one question—do we look like Alexa yet?
