Regardless of the time of year, blazers are essential. Ideal for layering in the colder months or wearing as a lightweight cover-up when temperatures rise, blazers are—along with my jeans and extensive white T-shirt collection—one of the few things in my wardrobe I can legitimately say that I wear every season. But they feel particularly suitable for autumn , and now that we’ve found ourselves in August, there are few outerwear options I’d rather reach for.
With so much wear, however, comes the risk of fatigue—of being stuck in some sort of outfit Groundhog Day– type scenario. Blazers deserve better, and more importantly, you deserve better. So I’ve rounded up 10 classic blazer outfits you can style on a whim and know they’re going to look chicer than chic.
As seen on some of my favourite sources of fashion inspiration and utilising pieces I expect y ou’ll already have in your wardrobe, these classic blazer outfits might be simple, but they’ll never let you down. Scroll on to see them and, should you feel so inclined, shop the key items you’ll need to re-create them.
Style Notes: Outfit combinations don’t come much sleeker than this. Fortunately, it’s super easy to re-create, too. Replace the cropped tee with a roll-neck when it’s chilly out, or try switching in a bra top for Friday night drinks.
You can always turn to The Frankie Shop for top-notch tailoring.
Every one of our editors loves this tee.
Straight-leg jeans will never go out of style.
Style Notes: This has become my go-to outfit combination this season. However, with the addition of a slightly more robust holdall, you can carry the blazer and updated slip dress pairing with you into September.
Arket’s latest Hopsack blazer is every bit as chic as the original.
Part of COS’ premium range, this striking dress is made from a luxurious silk.
Carry this bag from summer through to autumn.
Style Notes: Fashion people are continuing to serve up elevated ways to wear leggings this season. My favourite interpretation involves a blazer and heeled sandals, courtesy of Tanice Elizabeth.

The perfect strappy sandal, courtesy of Bobbies.
Style Notes: You don’t need to invest in matching sets to achieve this suited look. In fact, choosing pieces in similar tones and different fabrics will make your blazer outfit look even cooler and more effortless.
This whole look makes me want to holiday on the Italian Riviera.
Of course, you can also style the pieces separately.
Now that’s a heel I can get on board with.
Style Notes: Blazers might have once been considered office attire, but no more! With the addition of trainers, they look understated and cool—particularly when styled with tailored trousers.
Everyone needs a good black blazer, and this is a great one.
Easy to smarten up or wear casually with sneakers.
Speaking of sneakers, this Veja pair will go with everything.
Style Notes: Create a high-low balance by wearing your blazer with an elegant midi skirt, then directly offset with a pair of trending chunky flat boots. It’s an outfit triad that works but that no one will see coming. On warm days, just swap your boots for minimalist sandals.
I’m a neutrals girl, but something about this blue shade has captured my heart.
For all your silky skirt and dress needs, look to Ghost.
In the UK, we wear chunky boots year-round.
Style Notes: If your blazer is oversized, that doesn’t mean you need to keep the rest of your ensemble streamlined. Instead, take the cool-girl approach by wearing it with a pair of wide-leg trousers.
This versatile blazer comes in black and white, so you’re sure to find one you love.
A fun twist on your classic tank top.
We’ll never stop raving about these wide-leg trousers.
Style Notes: Switch up your blazer game by investing in a cream or light-hued jacket, then wear it nonchalantly over this year’s full-volume skirt and finish with snazzy loafers. Sticking to one colour palette will always ensure your ’fit works.
I also like adding a white blazer to a mostly-black outfit.
Simply stunning. COS got the memo!
The gold accent makes all the difference.
Style Notes: Just when you thought nothing could be better than the jeans-and-blazer pairing, along comes this ensemble featuring forever trendy leather trousers. I love how Jeannine has broken her all-black outfit up with the addition of a printed tee.
Minimalists, I’ve found your dream blazer.
It’s impossible to be in a bad mood with this T-shirt on. It’s no wonder Ganni’s t-shirts always sell out.
I bet you’ve spotted these trousers all over Instagram without knowing it.
Style Notes: I practically plan my outfits around my blazers. For evenings out, I’ll be layering my favourite over a simple minidress and finishing with collarbone-length necklaces, just like Izzy.
Sometimes navy feels like a softer choice than black, especially at this time of year.
A ‘wow’ dress if ever I saw one.
A slight pop of pearl.
