After five days of counting votes across the country, the United States has chosen Joe Biden as its 46th president.
Joining him in the White House will be Kamala Harris, who made history by becoming the first woman, the first African-American and the first person of Asian descent named vice president-elect of the United States.
The Biden-Harris ticket garnered more total votes than any in American history. The victory was called by several major networks just before noon on Saturday after an insurmountable number of votes in Pennsylvania guaranteed Biden at least 270 electoral college votes, ensuring Donald Trump would be a one-term president.
Athletes across the sports world took to social media to share their thoughts on the historic result.
