Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Alek Manoah will make his major league return on Friday, starting in his first MLB game in a month against the Detroit Tigers, manager John Schneider confirmed.
Manoah, 25, had a disastrous start to the season just one year removed from his All-Star appearance, posting a 6.36 ERA with just one win in 13 games started.
He was sent to the Florida Complex League in Dunedin, Fla., after being pulled in the first inning of the June 5 game against the Houston Astros where he allowed six runs and seven hits with just one out.
His time in Florida was not off to a great start, after he allowed 11 runs over nearly three innings in his Complex League debut. He fared better after being optioned to double-A New Hampshire, posting 10 strikeouts in his outing.
You can watch the return of Manoah on Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and SN NOW.
