Blue Jays beat Dodgers in Game 4 to even World Series

The World Series is knotted at two games apiece.

After dropping Game 3 in an 18-inning heartbreaker, the Toronto Blue Jays bounced back to down Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 in Game 4 on Tuesday night.

Despite falling behind 1-0 in the second inning, the Blue Jays’ offence found its footing when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. launched a two-run homer off Ohtani in the third.

It was Guerrero’s seventh blast of this post-season and set the Toronto franchise record for career playoff home runs.

Shane Bieber settled in after the second and ended up working 5.1 innings to keep the Blue Jays ahead, keeping the Dodgers from mounting an early comeback.

While Ohtani similarly cruised after the Guerrero homer, the Blue Jays chased the Dodgers’ two-way star in the seventh inning after back-to-back hits by Daulton Varsho and Ernie Clement.

The floodgates opened with Ohtani out of the game, as Andrés Giménez, Ty France, Bo Bichette and Addison Barger all drove in runs to add some insurance in the four-run frame.

The Dodgers added one run in the bottom of the ninth.

Mason Fluharty, Chris Bassitt and Louis Varland pitched in relief for Toronto in the win.

Game 5 of the Fall Classic will go Wednesday night from Dodger Stadium. It will be a pitching rematch of Game 1, as Trey Yesavage and Blake Snell will make their second starts of the series.

More to come.
