Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios will face his old team for the first time when he starts against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday at the Rogers Centre.
Live coverage of the Jays-Twins series finale starts at 1:07 p.m. ET/10:07 a.m. PT on Sportsnet and SN Now.
The Blue Jays acquired Berrios (11-8, 3.43 ERA) at the trade deadline in late July. He is 4-3 with a 3.31 ERA in nine starts with Toronto.
The Twins selected Berrios 32nd overall in the 2012 MLB Draft.
Berrios broke into the major leagues in 2016 and was an all-star with the Twins in 2018 and 2019.
The Puerto Rico native left his last start on Tuesday after seven innings with an abdominal injury but, on Friday, Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo declared him good to go for Sunday’s outing.
Right-hander Luke Farrell (1-0, 1.31 ERA), the son of former Blue Jays manager John Farrell, starts for the Twins in the rubber match of the three-game series.
The Blue Jays (83-65) enter Sunday’s action one game back of the Boston Red Sox (85-65) for the first wild-card spot and a half game ahead of the New York Yankees (83-66) in the race for the second spot.
The Yankees host Cleveland, while Boston is home to Baltimore on Sunday.
