For the second consecutive season, the Toronto Blue Jays are heading to the post-season.
After falling 7-5 to the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday, the Blue Jays needed the Texas Rangers to beat the Seattle Mariners to officially punch their ticket to the wild-card round.
And that’s exactly how it played out as the Rangers — while clinching their own playoff berth — earned a 6-1 win over the Mariners.
The Blue Jays could also lock down the second wild-card seed Saturday if the Houston Astros lose to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The wild-card round begins on Tuesday, Oct. 3 and runs three days straight.
It will be Toronto’s 10th playoff appearance in franchise history and fifth in the last nine seasons.
