Blue Jays take on Giants in return from All-Star break
The Toronto Blue Jays charge into the second half of the season in first place and back home at Rogers Centre. Watch the AL East leaders look to sweep the San Francisco Giants on Sunday starting with Blue Jays Central at 11:30 a.m. ET on Sportsnet.
Berríos (5-4, 3.75 ERA) will look to bounce back from his shortest outing of the season last Sunday against the Athletics. The 31-year-old right-hander pitched just three innings, allowing four runs on five hits with two walks and one strikeout as the Blue Jays lost 6-3. Berríos had picked up the win in three of his previous four starts before that contest.
A familiar face will be on the mound for the Giants in the form of Robbie Ray. The 33-year-old lefty pitched for two seasons with the Blue Jays, including the 2021 campaign when he won the American League Cy Young Award.
Ray holds a 9-3 record and 2.65 ERA this season and is coming off of his second All-Star Game appearance. He has one win and four no-decisions over his past seven starts.
The Blue Jays (57-41) continue to hold a three-game lead over the New York Yankees at the top of the AL East.
The Giants (52-47) have lost four straight and are six games back of the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West.
After Sunday’s matinee, the Blue Jays welcome the Yankees for a three-game series beginning Monday night.
