Blue Jays look to keep offence rolling against Rockies

The AL East-leading Toronto Blue Jays are in Colorado for a three-game series against the Rockies. Game 2 goes Tuesday at 8:40 p.m. ET / 5:40 p.m. PT with live coverage on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.

    Broadcast schedule

After an 8-2 start out of the all-star break, the Blue Jays hit a rough patch in back-to-back series losses to the Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals. During that span, Toronto managed more than four runs just once in seven games.

But a trip to the Mile High City seemed to cure what ailed the Blue Jays as they exploded for a 15-1 win in Monday’s series opener.

Bo Bichette launched two home runs in the win to improve to 22-for-44 over his past 10 games. Daulton Varsho also went yard for the first time since coming off the IL Aug. 1, and Ernie Clement picked up a career-high five hits in the win.

The Blue Jays’ 15 runs and 25 hits both represented season highs, with the latter ranking third-best in franchise history. Their .266 team batting average for the season leads MLB.

Toronto continues to sit atop the AL East at 66-48, while the second-place Boston Red Sox are three game back at 63-51.

The Rockies (30-82) own by the worst record in MLB by 12 games.

After the series in Colorado, the Blue Jays head to Los Angeles for three games against the NL West-leading Dodgers before returning home to take on the Chicago Cubs.
