Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Nate Pearson has a mild right shoulder impingement and will miss his next triple-A start, per Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith.
The 24-year-old, who was demoted Tuesday, played long toss yesterday with “good intensity” and is slated to travel to Trenton on Friday.
He will then go through a modified throwing program.
Pearson struggled in his first Blue Jays start of the season last Sunday as the club dropped a 7-4 decision to the Houston Astros. He allowed five walks, four hits and three earned runs over 2 1/3 innings.
“The expectations are so high but he’ll be all right,” Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said earlier this week.
“He just needs to pitch more in the minor leagues and he’ll be all right.”
