The Toronto Blue Jays have reportedly signed first baseman Brandon Belt to a one-year, $9.3 million deal, Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi confirms.
Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle was the first to report the deal.
The former San Francisco Giant has played all 12 years of his big league career in the Bay Area to date, which include an all-star appearance in 2016 and two World Series wins in 2012 and 2014.
Belt battled injuries with the Giants last season, appearing in just 78 games while dealing with a knee injury that prematurely ended his season. When he was able to stay on the field, the 34 year old hit .213 with eight home runs and 23 RBIs.
For his career, Belt has slashed .261/.356/.458 with 175 home runs and 584 RBI.
More to come.
