Blues’ Doug Armstrong to be GM for Canada’s men’s hockey team at 2022 Olympics

Hockey Canada has appointed St. Louis Blues general manager Doug Armstrong as general manager for the men’s hockey team at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

Armstrong will be joined on the management team by Associate General Manager Ken Holland, Assistant General Managers Ron Francis, Roberto Luongo, Don Sweeney and Senior Vice-President of National Teams Scott Salmond.

Armstrong was previously apart of two gold-medal winning management groups in 2010 and 2014.

“Under Doug’s leadership, as well as that of our entire management group, we’re thrilled to task them to lead us into 2022, with the opportunity to oversee our staff and players as they compete for an Olympic gold medal,” Tom Renney, CEO of Hockey Canada, said in a statement.

Armstrong is in his 11th season as GM of the Blues and lead them to the Stanley Cup in 2019.

The 2022 Beijing Olympics will feature the return of NHL players after the players were not made available for the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics.
