Bo Bichette exits in sixth inning vs. Tigers with right calf strain

After picking up the Toronto Blue Jays‘ first hit of the night Friday, Bo Bichette was forced to exit in the sixth inning.

Bichette left the game against the Detroit Tigers after lining out to right fielder Wenceel Perez. He came up favouring his calf as he ran down the first base line and was replaced by Leo Jimenez.

Toronto later announced that he left with a right calf strain.

Following the game, manager John Schneider said that Bichette will go for an MRI on Saturday.

The 26-year-old was accompanied off the field by Schneider and Blue Jays trainers.

The Blue Jays shortstop was making his return to the lineup after missing the four games before the All-Star Break due to a right calf injury. Bichette had previously spent time on the injured list in the first half due to a calf strain.

Bichette was 1-for-3 before being forced from the game.

It has been a trying season for Bichette, who improved his slash line Friday to .222/.275/.320 with four home runs.
