Brock Boeser’s third-period goal was the difference as the Vancouver Canucks beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1 on Saturday night.
Boeser’s winner came with 11:04 left in the game with the Canucks on a power play.
Canucks defenceman Filip Hronek opened the scoring in the first period when forward Elias Pettersson set him up for an easy goal with a beautiful pass.
Morgan Rielly scored the lone Maple Leafs goal in the dying seconds of the second period.
With Saturday’s victory, the Canucks have now won three games in a row and six of their last eight.
It wasn’t all good news for the Canucks on Saturday, however, as starting netminder Thatcher Demko left the game midway through the first period. Demko was ruled out for the remainder of the game at the start of the second period.
This was the last game for both teams before the 4 Nations Face-Off break.
More to come.
