Both the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves each left their doubleheader feeling pretty good. The Arizona Diamondbacks? Not so much.
With a split on Monday, the Mets and the Braves claimed the final two wild-card spots in the National League, subsequently eliminating the Diamondbacks.
The Mets were the first to clinch, winning Game 1 and securing the No. 6 seed with an 8-7 victory in an instant classic. The Braves weren’t far behind, however, sealing the No. 5 seed with a 3-0 victory in a must-win Game 2.
The Mets will now take on the No. 3 Milwaukee Brewers, while the Braves will face the No. 4 San Diego Padres.
More to come.
