Brazil crush Korea Republic en route to World Cup quarterfinal match against Croatia

Brazil scored four goals in the first 36 minutes and cruised to a convincing 4-1 win over Korea Republic in the World Cup round of 16.

La Selecao will move on to the quarterfinal where they will clash against Croatia on Dec. 9.

With Neymar back in the mix following an ankle injury sustained in the group stage, Brazil took a 2-0 lead by the 13th minute.

Raphinha located a wide open Vinicius Jr. across the box with a cross-pass and the Real Madrid winger used poise and calm to open the score in the seventh minute.

Brazil was awarded a penalty three minutes later when Richarlison was taken down in the box. Neymar stepped up to the spot and scored his 76th goal in yellow and green, only one away from Pelé’s all-time record.

Richarlison notched Brazil’s third goal of the night. The Tottenham striker recovered the ball from a Korean clearance attempt before completing a tic-tac-toe play with his countrymen Marquinhos and Thiago Silva.

Lucas Paqueta netted Brazil’s fourth and final goal in the 36th minute. Vinicius ballooned the ball over Korea’s defence and the West Ham midfielder found the back of the net.

Korea managed to grab one goal back in a losing effort in the 76th minute. Paik Seung-Ho recovered the ball from a set-piece play and tried his luck from atop the semi-circle, spoiling Alisson Becker’s clean sheet.
