Calling It—The

This season I’ve been on the hunt for new ways to freshen up my wardrobe. Uninterested in overhauling, or starting from scratch, I’m instead aiming to revitalise my rotation with the help of some clever styling tricks.

Taking my resolution to the office I sought expertise from the Who What Wear team, who, armed with years of experience in the fashion industry, guided me towards the “Mirroring Method”. The team suggested I try my hand at accessorising with tonal layers. Think pops of red or splashes of brown in the form of vibrant socks and a matching bag, or a thick scarf that coordinates with a tonal shoe.

Julie perfectly demonstrates The Mirroring Method in this look.

Low effort, high impact, the styling trick relies on a few tonal accessories that you style together to create a coherent pop of colour throughout your outfit. A connect-the-dots type scenario. Begin with a neutral base and layer on matching accessories and add ons (such as a jumper knotted around the shoulders) for an easy outfit that will feel put-together and right on trend.

Dubbed by the Who What Wear team as the “mirroring method”, we’ve already spotted a few of our favourite influencers try their hand at the trend. Whilst many have experimented with pops of red and burgundy, the mirroring method looks chic no matter what colours you choose to style. If you’re interested in picking up on the easiest styling trick I’ve seen for months, read on to discover how we’re styling the mirroring method this winter.
