Canada will leave the 2024 Copa America with a fourth-place finish to its name.
The Canadians fell to Uruguay in penalties on Saturday in the Copa America third-place match on Saturday.
After falling down 1-0 just eight minutes into the game, Canada responded in the 22nd minute thanks to a stunning scissor-kick goal from Ismael Kone.
Jonathan David would put the Canadians up 2-1 in the 80th minute when he buried a rebound past the Uruguayan keeper.
But then Uruguay’s Luis Suarez would tie the game with an stoppage-time goal to send the game to penalties.
The Canadians started a young, new-look lineup, but then brought in the likes of Alphonso Davies and David in the second half.
