Ismaël Koné got Canada back on the scoresheet in the first half of Saturday’s third-place tilt with Uruguay.
Coming off a humbling 2-0 defeat to Argentina in the Copa America semifinal on Tuesday, Koné helped vault his nation back into their match with Uruguay after falling behind the South American side in the first ten minutes.
His impressive equalizer saw the Montreal, Que. native knock an airborne ball above the outstretched hands of Uruguay’s goalkeeper with a scissor-kick, sparking an array of shock and celebration through X, formerly Twitter.
Canada entered the half with the better of the chances despite sitting in a 1-1 deadlock with Uruguay.
