Canada’s Jacobs beats Great Britain, clinches semifinal spot in Olympic men’s curling

Team Brad Jacobs is in great shape at the Winter Olympics.

The Canadian men’s rink downed reigning world champion Team Bruce Mouat of Great Britain 9-5 on Tuesday to improve to 6-1, clinching a semifinal spot at Milano Cortina 2026.

Jacobs is second in the round-robin, behind Switzerland’s Team Yannick Schwaller (7-0), with two games left. The top four teams advance to the semifinals.

Mouat (4-4), the 2022 Olympic silver medallist, is in a tight battle for the final two playoff spots with Norway (4-3), Italy (4-3) and the U.S. (4-4)

Jacobs’ draw for three in the seventh end gave Canada a 7-5 lead against Great Britain. A steal of one in the eighth pushed Canada to an even better spot.

Team Jacobs is back on the ice Wednesday against Italy (8:05 a.m. ET / 5:05 a.m. PT, CBC Gem, Sportsnet+).

Canada hasn’t won gold in Olympic men’s curling since another rink skipped by Jacobs took the crown in 2014.
