Canadian men score for second time at World Cup after Moroccan own goal

It may not have been the face of the team flying through the air for a header, but the Canadian men’s national team has scored again at the World Cup — this time with some help from its opponent.

Trailing 2-0 to Morocco in the first half of Canada’s final match of the tournament, Sam Adekugbe broke down the left side of the pitch and pulled a nifty move around PSG defender Achraf Hakimi, before attempting a cross that deflected off Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd and into the back of the net.

A goal’s a goal. They all count the same.

Canada, which can’t advance to the knockout stage after losses to Belgium and Croatia, trails 2-1 at half time. The men’s national team has yet to ever secure a point at the global event.
