The Montreal Canadiens have acquired forward Alex Newhook from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for the 31st and 37th-overall picks in this weekes NHL Draft and defenceman Gianni Fairbrother, the team announced Tuesday.
Newhook, 22, scored 14 goals for 30 points in the 2022-23 season and helped the Avalanche win a Stanley Cup in 2022.
Newhook was selected 16th overall in 2019 and has since played two full seasons with the Avalanche, scoring 27 goals and 39 assists over 159 games.
