Celtics beat Mavericks, take commanding 3-0 series lead in NBA Finals

The Boston Celtics are one win away from their 18th NBA championship in franchise history.

Boston beat the Dallas Mavericks 106-99 in Game 3 on Wednesday night to take a commanding 3-0 series lead and push the Mavs to the brink of elimination.

After heading into halftime down one point, the Celtics outscored the Mavericks 35-19 in the third quarter to take the lead. Dallas closed the gap with a big run in the fourth but Boston held on in the end.

After struggling to score in the opening two games of the series, Celtics star Jayson Tatum led the team in scoring with 31 points. His partner in crime Jaylen Brown added 30 of his own.

Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving did all they could to keep the Mavericks from going down 3-0, combining for 62 points in the loss.

The Mavericks will look to keep their season alive in Game 4 on Friday. You can watch the game live on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ at 8:30 p.m. / 5:30 p.m. PT.
