The Caitlin Clark story continues.
It wasn’t easy by any means, but Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes managed to rally and edge out the UConn Huskies 71-69 on Friday, booking their spot in the National Final.
Not a single one of her looks was clean, as the Huskies made it as hard as possible for her to find an open shot, but Caitlin Clark is inevitable. The superstar finished with 21 points despite only scoring six in the first half. She also had nine rebounds and seven assists while shooting 7-for-18 from the field and 3-for-11 from 3-point range.
Hawkeye sidekick Hannah Stuelke kept Iowa afloat for much of the game before Clark could get going, finishing her night with 23 points on 9-for-12 shooting.
UConn, meanwhile, showed why they belonged, fighting through a rash of injuries and foul trouble to give Clark one of the hardest challenges of her career.
Opposing superstar guard Paige Bueckers finished with 17 points while Canadian centre Aaliyah Edwards had 17 points and was a force defensively with five steals and one block.
With the win, the Hawkeyes are returning to the title game for the second straight year. This time, they’ll take on the undefeated juggernaut South Carolina Gamecocks after they dismantled the N.C. State Wolfpack earlier on Friday.
