The Metropolitan Division won the 3-on-3 All-Star Game final with a 5-3 win over the Central Division at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Metro got scoring from the Flyers’ Claude Giroux with two, Capitals’ Evgeny Kuznetsov, Rangers’ Chris Kreider and Devils’ Jack Hughes. The Metro players share the $1 million prize for winning the All-Star Game.
The Central’s goals were scored by the Coyotes’ Clayton Keller, Avalanche’s Nazem Kadri and Sharks’ Joe Pavelski.
In the first semi-final game, the Metropolitan advanced by beating the Pacific, 6-4.
Metro goals were scored by Hughes with two, the Capitals’ Tom Wilson, just 13 seconds into the game (missing Rick Nash’s 2008 record by one second), Giroux, Kreider and Penguins’ Jake Guentzel.
Pacific scoring was handled by the Sharks’ Timo Meier, Knights’ Jonathan Marchessault with two, Kraken’s Jordan Eberle and Knights’ Mark Stone.
In the second semi-final game, the Central advanced with an 8-5 win over the Atlantic.
Central’s goals were scored by the Blues’ Jordan Kyrou with two, Blackhawks’ Alex DeBrincat with two, Jets’ Kyle Connor, Kadri, Predators’ Roman Josi and Pavelski.
The Atlantic’s goals were scored by the Panthers’ Jonathan Huberdeau, Maple Leafs’ Auston Matthews, Bruins’ Patrice Bergeron, Sabres’ Rasmus Dahlin and Lightning’s Steven Stamkos.
Heading into this game, the Pacific had won the All-Star Game title three of the five years since the league has gone with its 3-on-3 format. The Metropolitan Division had won twice, while the Atlantic and Central had yet to win.
