Connor McDavid’s point streak ends at 17 games as Oilers lose to Stars

Connor McDavid‘s historic point streak to start the season has come to an end.

The Edmonton Oilers captain was kept off the scoreboard in a 4-1 loss to the Dallas Stars Tuesday night.

McDavid’s 17-game streak is tied for the eighth-longest such streak to begin a season. It also ranks third in Oilers franchise history, behind two Wayne Gretzky performances: 51 consecutive games to start the 1983-84 season and 30 consecutive games at the start of the 1982-83 campaign.

McDavid’s overall point streak ends at 25 games if including games from last season when McDavid was the unanimous Hart Trophy winner with 105 points in just 56 games.

The 24-year-old recorded 12 goals and 32 points during the streak. His teammate, Leon Draisaitl, recorded an assist against the Stars to extend his overall scoring lead to 36 points. Draisaitl has points in 15 of the Oilers’ 18 games this season.
