Cowan scores overtime winner, Maple Leafs top Flyers

After a convincing performance against the reigning champion Panthers on Tuesday, the Toronto Maple Leafs followed it up with a 2-1 overtime win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday.

Scott Laughton scored the game-tying goal late in the third period in his return to Philadelphia after more than a decade with the Flyers. Rookie Easton Cowan (6) scored the game-winner midway through a frenetic overtime period.

Travis Konecny scored the lone Flyers goal 55 seconds into the second period, as Leafs goaltender Dennis Hildeby stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced.

The Leafs (21-15-7) make it a two-game winning streak. Meanwhile, the Flyers (22-12-8) lose their two-game winning streak.

More to come.
