The Los Angeles Dodgers have captured their first World Series title since 1988 by beating the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1 in Game 6.
Trailing 1-0 in the sixth inning, the Dodgers’ Austin Barnes hit a single off Rays starter Blake Snell who was then pulled after just 73 pitches. Mookie Betts advanced Barnes to third and he scored on a wild pitch by Nick Anderson.
Betts would then score on Corey Seager’s grounder to first baseman Ji-Man Choi, who was unable to get the throw to home in time.
Betts then added an insurance run with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Randy Arozarena’s first-inning home run accounted for the only run the Rays were able to score.
