The Los Angeles Dodgers are one win away from winning the World Series.
Freddie Freeman extended his Fall Classic home run streak to a record-tying five games with a two-run shot in the first inning, and the Dodgers’ pitching staff handled it from there, locking down a 4-2 Game 3 victory.
Walker Buehler struck out five New York Yankees hitters over five scoreless innings, and Los Angeles’ relievers continued to silence the Bronx faithful to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the World Series.
Just two days after suffering a should subluxation, Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani was back atop the lineup, and ended the night 0-for-3 with a strikeout, walk, hit-by-pitch and run scored.
Los Angeles also got multiple hits from Kiké Hernández, who drove in a run with a single in the top of the sixth, to improve his OPS this post-season to .850.
On the other side of the diamond, Aaron Judge remained quiet, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout and walk and Juan Soto was also held out of the hit column.
New York will now turn to Luis Gil for Game 4 with its season on the line, while the Dodgers will use a bullpen game to try and capture the Commissioner’s Trophy Tuesday night.
More to come.
