This is the first time the Leafs have led a playoff series 2-0 since 2002 against the New York Islanders.
Toronto took a 2-0 lead in the first period off goals by John Tavares and Morgan Rielly.
Ottawa would respond with goals from Brady Tkachuk and Adam Gaudette to force overtime.
The series now shifts to Ottawa for Game 3 on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
