Fashion People Can't Stop Carrying These Designer-Looking High Street Bags

In an unprecedented turn of events, fashion people have recently been forgoing their well-known designer handbags for styles from the high street. Yes, you heard me correctly. In fact, it’s one particular high street brand that has been producing handbags so expensive-looking, that influencer and editors across the industry are leaving their Loewe’s at home in favour of these glossy (yet affordable) accessories. Massimo Dutti is the brand I’m talking about, and while it’s not the cheapest high street label out there, we’re still talking under-£200 for their most premium styles, compared to the soaring four figure sums you can find at most designer labels these days.

Myself and my fellow Who What Wear editors have been fans of Massimo Dutti (the more mature, more elevated and better quality sister brand to Zara) for a while now, and over the years I’ve seen influencers dip in and out of its timeless offering. But over the last year, especially, with the explosion of quiet luxury I’ve seen more and more people within the industry wearing (and raving about) the brand’s classic buys. The minimalist, designer-looking leather handbags have unsurprisingly proven to be a particular hit, and there’s been a number of times recently where I’ve stopped my scrolling on Instagram to check which designer an influencer’s chic bag is from, only to discover it’s from Massimo Dutti.

The brand has actually just released its autumn/winter drop of bags and they really don’t disappoint. Rich colour tones in buttery leathers and unique designs really make them really stand out from the rest of the high street offering. If you’ve been looking for a classic crossbody, ’90s-inspired shoulder bag or even a fits-everything leather tote bag that will last you for many seasons to come, you’re going to want to scroll down and see these. I love that they all come in multiple classic colourways too—usually including black, brown and a lighter cream. My personal favourites have to be the Croissant Bag and the padded flap bags (one in each size, please) that I just want to take home and squeeze. All are bound to sell out as we get further into the autumn season, so keep scrolling to pick your favourite now.

In my opinion this is Massimo Dutti’s most expensive-looking bag right now.

So chic, and it comes in a number of colours.

Practical and sleek—the perfect small black crossbody.

This has an air of The Row about it, don’t you think?

The medium size works as a roomy crossbody.

I do love the mini version for evenings though. Tuck the strap in to make it a clutch.

If you prefer a shoulder bag, this bag is for you.

Like a lot of Massimo’s bags, this comes in multiple classic colours.

Remove the long strap on this cute little bag for a top-handle style that works perfectly for drinks or dinner.

While I usually sway towards black, tan and cream neutral for bags, there’s something about this earthy blue that I’m drawn to—it would look gorgeous against chocolate brown and even grey outfits this autumn.

You can never go wrong with classic black. And look how chic the interiors are too.

The kind of bag that fits everything—perfect for work or travel.

This will freshen up any outfit—summer or winter.

Perfect for throwing in the essentials.

How gorgeous is this nutty brown for autumn?
