Finland’s Lankinen pulled after allowing four goals vs. Canada

Finland goaltender Kevin Lankinen was lifted after giving up four goals on 13 shots against Canada during Monday’s must-win game at the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Canada’s Nathan MacKinnon found the back of the net again at 5:03 into the second period to make it 4-0 and chase Lankinen from the crease.

Juuse Saros came in to replace Lankinen.

Saros started Finland’s opening game against the USA on Thursday but was pulled after giving up six goals on 32 shots in the 6-1 loss.

Lankinen, who took over from Saros, started Finland’s second game against Sweden on Saturday and made 21 saves in a 4-3 overtime victory.

The 29-year-old got out to a rough start against Canada though allowing two goals 46 seconds apart from Connor McDavid and MacKinnon within the first five minutes of the game.

Brayden Point made it 3-0 Canada roughly eight minutes later.

Canada can clinch a spot in the final against the USA with a win over Finland in regulation. An overtime or shootout win for Canada can also get them in if Sweden does not earn a regulation win over the USA later Monday.

Finland faces an identical path to Canada to reach the final.
