A year after missing the playoffs entirely, the New York Yankees are getting closer to the promised land.
Blocking out the noise and trash talk, the Yankees pulled through on Thursday night to beat the Kansas City Royals 3-1 in Game 4 to advance to the ALCS.
Gerrit Cole led the way from the mound, recovering from a poor Game 1 to seven innings of one-run ball while striking out four. New York’s “Murderer’s Row” did the rest, as RBIs from Gleyber Torres, Juan Soto and Giancarlo Stanton proved just enough to beat the Royals.
The Yankees last advanced to the ALCS in the 2022 season but were swept by eventual champions Houston Astros.
They now await the winner of the Detroit Tigers-Cleveland Guardians series, with Game 5 taking place on Saturday.
More to come.
