Golden Knights defeat Wild in Game 7, move on to face Avalanche in Round 2

The Vegas Golden Knights have eliminated the Minnesota Wild in Game 7, booking their ticket to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Dropping Game 1 before taking three straight to push Minnesota to the brink of elimination, the Golden Knights saw the Wild storm back with two more of their own to force an all-or-nothing final game on Friday.

After the clubs traded goals in the first period of the series-decider, Vegas piled up three in the second to build a lead, which they ultimately held onto until the final buzzer. Mattias Janmark led the way for Vegas’ clinching win, posting his first career hat trick in the effort.

With the Wild in the rearview, the Golden Knights move on to face the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Colorado Avalanche in Round 2.

More to come.
