Gushue tops Jacobs to win Canada’s curling trials and return to Olympics

Brad Gushue is heading back to the Winter Olympic Games.

Gushue and his team from St. John’s, N.L., defeated Brad Jacobs and his crew from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., 4-3 during Canada’s Olympic curling trials men’s final Sunday in Saskatoon.

The 2006 Olympic gold medallist Gushue will represent Canada once again at the 2022 Beijing Winter Games, which take place Feb. 4-20.

Earlier Sunday, Jennifer Jones and her Winnipeg-based team stole a point in an extra end to edge Tracy Fleury’s club from East St. Paul, Man., 6-5 to win the women’s final. Jones will also make a second Olympic appearance after capturing gold at the 2014 Sochi Winter Games.
