I Don't Wear Hoodies, But This Jumper Trend Might Change My Mind

I always see those women on the street who have nonchalantly thrown on a hoodie with a pair of jeans, Converse high-tops and a blazer and somehow look damn cool. (I’m looking at you, Kaia Gerber.) Well, in short, I am not one of those people, and despite my recently reignited love affair with loungewear, I have never quite managed to feel good heading out in a hoodie—until now.

You can imagine my surprise when a trend emerged earlier this year that tempted me to buy into the sporty staple. While there isn’t anything overtly different about the new iteration, somehow the hoodie 2.0’s penchant for woolen fabrics has offered it a softer edge, meaning it is easier to wear with polished separates. Who What Wear’s Emma Spedding appeared on Zoom a few weeks ago wearing a chic blazer with a knitted blue hoodie layered underneath, and she looked fab.

Rendered in everything from fine merino and chunky knit to the softest cashmere and fluffy mohair, there are so many grown-up spins on the hoodie right now. Most people make like Emma and pair theirs with tailored trousers, while others have gone all out and styled theirs with matching knitted trackies à la Stacey Dooley. It’s fair to say loungewear has never looked so luxe. Scroll down to see how our fave influencers are wearing theirs, and shop the best knitted hoodies around now.

Style Notes: The perfect example of how you can create a cool high-low outfit with a knitted hoodie. Monikh’s striped style balances out the drama of the Saks Potts fur collar coat.

Style Notes: Stacey Dooley’s Zara co-ord looks unbelievably comfy, but we also bet it would pair so well with chunky boots and a sharp blazer.
