I Just Tried On 11 Rixo Pieces That Are Perfect for a Party

Despite only being on the fashion scene for the last six years, Rixo has become a byword for trend-led party dressing. Whether it’s repping florals for a summer wedding or experimenting with sparkles for the first time since lockdown, the brand’s vintage-inspired pieces never fail to hit the mark. Considering that this year will be our first party season in over 18 months, I thought I’d take a little trip to Rixo’s store on the King’s Road to test some of the best pieces from its festive edit.

In true Rixo style, it was a joyous celebration of print, throwback details and versatile silhouettes. The brand’s confetti print is a key theme in this season’s offering and reminds me of the sort of looks you’d see on ‘90s runway models. Speaking of ’90s, the shimmery Sandie top also won me over with its Carrie Bradshaw spin when styled with the Kelly leopard-print slip skirt.

There are, of course, plenty of contemporary styles for those who don’t love the vintage vibe, from the Candice’s XXL sequins to the Sabrina’s dramatic low back. But for the OG Rixo lover, I have no doubt that you’ll fall for every single item in this collection. Scroll down to see and shop my Rixo party edit.

Style Notes: Throw it back to the ’90s with this shimmer-top-and-slip-skirt pairing. I can imagine the top looking equally as chic with black tailored trousers.

Style Notes: Now this is what you call a showstopper. This colourful mini has definite ’60s undertones with its thigh-grazing hemline and XXL sequins. Just note that it does flare out slightly at the hips, so petite people might want to size down to create a more tailored finish.

Style Notes: With its velvet finish and delicate floral motif, this was one of my favourite pieces from the collection, as it harks back to some of Rixo’s original dress designs.

Style Notes: I’m a big fan of the high neck and empire line cut on this maxi dress. Perfect for more formal festive parties.

Style Notes: The stylist at Rixo informed me that this harlequin knit has been a massive seller in-store, and I like how you can create a statement-making party look with the matching skirt.

Style Notes: There was something about this navy dress that felt very Alexa Chung. Perhaps it was the cute ruffled-collar detail or the subtle low back. Ideal for a winter wedding.

Style Notes: I don’t usually love V-necks, but there was something about the lace trim and bust ruching on this blouse that won me over. While it looks fab with the matching skirt, I think it would be the perfect nice-top-and-jeans top.

Style Notes: The Gio has a similar vibe to the Isabelle, except that it has a lovely sweetheart neckline and elegant long sleeves. I’m a big fan.
