I Love Baccarat Rouge 540—But These Affordable Perfumes Smell Just As Good

Hi, my name is Grace and I’m addicted to perfume. Those of you that know me will know that my fragrance collection is getting a little out of control, but there’s nothing I love more than experimenting with new scents. That being said, out of all of the perfumes that I have tried over the years, there are a select few that I would repurchase again and again, one of them being Baccarat Rouge 540

Yes, that’s right, I’m talking about the cult fragrance by none other than Maison Francis Kurkdjian. I’m sure that you’ve already come across the beautiful red and gold bottle on Instagram or TikTok, and I can confirm that this viral perfume really is worth the hype. It was first released as a limited-edition fragrance as part of a collaboration between Maison Francis Kurkdjian and crystal company, Baccarat. However, it quickly became a bestseller, which means that we all now get to experience just how good it is.

If you’re yet to smell Baccarat Rouge, then I recommend heading to the shops straight away. Warm, sensual notes of jasmine and amber combine with sweet saffron and woody cedar for a truly seductive finish. I am yet to find someone who doesn’t like this warming scent, and it’s definitely one of my most complimented perfumes to this day.

The only downside? A 70ml bottle will set you back a cool £235. Because of this, I tend to save the fragrance for date nights or special occasions to ensure that it lasts me for months to come. However, during my time as a junior beauty editor, I have come across a range of other perfumes that I believe capture the same, delicious scent of Baccarat Rouge, for a fraction of the price. Interested? I thought so. Keep on scrolling for the best Baccarat Rouge 540 dupes, but be prepared for everyone to be asking you what perfume you are wearing. You have been warned…

When I first came across this product, I thought it looked a bit like a body spray that I would use as a teenager. However, after spritzing it for the first time, I couldn’t believe how much it reminded me of Baccarat Rouge, with floral notes of jasmine and warm notes of vanilla. The best bit about this perfume mist is that it’s easy to chuck into your handbag, so even when I am wearing the original Baccarat Rouge perfume, I like to carry this round with me for on-the-go top ups.

I am a big, big fan of Zara perfumes. In fact, I think they are some of the best high street fragrances that money can buy. This particular scent has all the notes that Baccarat Rouge fans know and love, including saffron, jasmine and woody amber. In fact, it’s one of the most similar scents I have tried. The lasting power on this is also really impressive, and for under £25, you simply can’t go wrong.

According to TikTok, this is a great alternative to Baccarat Rouge. Although I am yet to try it, I have many other & Other Stories perfumes that have become staples in my collection. This particular one contains notes of jasmine and saffron, but the brand have added hints of wild raspberry for a sweet, fruity finish.

Ok, so this isn’t technically a dupe, but did you know that Maison Francis Kurkdjian also do a hair mist in the famous Baccarat Rouge 540 scent at over half the price? I personally love using this on both my hair and body to ensure that the scent lasts all day long.

Another scent that TikTokers are claiming smells super similar to Baccarat Rouge is Dream Moon by Pacifica. It comes in both a perfume and a hair and body mist, but the perfume is currently sold out, so it must be good. Mists don’t often last as long as perfumes, but for £14, I wouldn’t worry about having to use this a little more liberally.

I’m not usually one to try celebrity perfumes, however when I told my friends and family that I was writing this article, they all told me that I had to mention Cloud by Ariana Grande. After smelling it myself, I can see why. It is very similar, with a creamy, sensual yet woody scent that Baccarat does so well. My only thing to note is that it’s definitely a lot sweeter, so if you don’t like sweet scents, then this might not be the best choice.

If you were to put a blindfold on me and ask me to smell both Baccarat Rouge 540 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian and Sunset Riot by AllSaints, I’m really not sure that I would be able to tell the difference. That’s just how good this dupe is. It’s sold out pretty much everywhere, so if you want to give it a go yourself, I recommend adding it to your basket straight away.
