Is It Just Me, or Does Every Fashion Person Own This Bag?

There’s a simple way of knowing if something has truly attained It status within fashion circles: It’s everywhere. While Hermès Birkins and ’90s Prada Nylon bags continue to be enduring classics people love even decades later, there may be a new bag joining their ranks. Meet Bottega Veneta’s Jodie bag.

When the brand’s former Creative Director Daniel Lee transformed the core aesthetic of Bottega Veneta in 2019, he also brought to the Italian house a new lineup of bold accessories. While several of them have gone on to be sellout hits (including those mesh heels and IG-famous clunky rubber rain boots), arguably the most in-demand piece has been the Jodie.

Since its arrival in early 2020, the accessory has become a fixture in almost every paparazzi shot or Instagram image that has graced my computer. The bag itself merged Daniel Lee’s modern point of view with the heritage craftsmanship of Bottega Veneta’s famed intrecciato leather, so it feels right in line with today’s trends yet also timeless. From its sumptuous leather to the minimal yet elevated shape, it’s not difficult to get why the bag has a growing legion of fans. To give you the full scope of just how pervasive this bag is, I’ve picked out some of the most stylish ways it’s been worn out in the wild. If you’re thinking about splurging on this new classic, I also have all the places where you can buy it—just keep scrolling.

A classic black bag is the foundation of any accessory collection, and—might we add—the Jodie looks incredibly sleek in this simple black colourway.

As classic as bags come.

Go big or go home with the oversize version. It’s definitely pricey, but if you insist on fitting your whole life into one bag, let it be this one.

A true never-date option.

This teal tone has become a Bottega Veneta signature.

With a palette of all-white tones, it just oozes sophistication.

This bag is high on our wish lists.

Buttery yellow is the perfect unexpected-but-not-too-crazy kind of neutral.

A great way to lift a tonal outfit.

Bored of black? A decadent shade of chocolate brown will equally look amazing against all of your staples.

It helps that it’s on-trend too.

When Bottega Veneta introduced Kelly green into the mix of its core palette, the shade quickly became the colour of the season.

So good.

A pretty burst of lilac really perks up a denim outfit.

One of the season’s biggest colour trends.

In a twist no one saw coming, matching your purse with your shoes is the “style rule” we’re tossing out the window right now.

You’ll get so much use out of this tan shade. Plus, it’s easy to match your shoes to.

Sometimes, you just want a bag that will bring you joy, and this teal certainly fits the bill.

This teal iteration is an influencer favourite.

Warm warm neutrals like these raspberry and chocolate colours. These also happen to be the bigger iteration of the Jodie, so there’s plenty of space for holding an extra cardigan or two.

We’re into this rich wine hue.

Just gorgeous.

In more non-black neutrals, you can’t go wrong with off-white or a steel grey.

A versatile option.

This sage green is the latest shade in the brand’s family of seasonal colours.

Warm beige will forever rule our hearts.
