Canadian long-track speedskater Isabelle Weidemann won a silver medal in the women’s 5,000 metres on Thursday at the Beijing Olympics.
It was the Ottawa native’s second medal of the Games after she won bronze in the 3,000 metres.
Irene Schouten of the Netherlands overtook Weidemann for gold in the final pairing. Schouten also won the 3,000 metres.
Canada now has 12 medals at the Games — one gold, four silver and seven bronze.
Weidemann’s medal was the fourth on Day 6 for Canada.
More to come.
