The New York Islanders have booked their ticket to the second round courtesy of a Game 6 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
After winning Game 1 and then dropping two straight, Barry Trotz’s Islanders reeled off three straight wins over Pittsburgh in Games 4, 5 and 6 to take the series.
In doing so, the Islanders move past the first round for the third straight year, having lost to the eventual champion Tampa Bay Lightning in the Conference Final last year.
The Penguins, meanwhile, exit in the first round for the third straight year.
More to come.
