I've Analysed It—This Designer Capsule Is the Chicest I've Seen In a Long Time

When Alessandro Michele closed down Hollywood Boulevard late last year to showcase Gucci’s SS22 “Love Parade” collection, I had an inkling it might be good. Did I think it was going to be one of the most understated, wearable Gucci collections I’ve seen in years? No, probably not. But the Italian house is not really known for its predictability.

Sienna Miller looks show-stopping the Gucci Love Parade show.

Yes, there were celebrities in loud outfits lining the front row (hello, Sienna Miller in sequins), and even familiar faces walking down the catwalk. And of course, with 115 looks in total, there were a few feathers, sparkles and lace pieces to be seen (it is Gucci, after all). But despite the glamorous LA location and extravagant old-Hollywood atmosphere, when I actually got to dissecting the collection after it started dropping recently, the individual pieces have a really timeless, classic appeal— most with a chic nautical twist that’s perfect for transitioning from summer to early autumn. Think camel, check and navy blazers, white tailored shorts, denim dresses and simple black swimsuits, with plenty of the heritage horsebit motif thrown in for good measure.

These are hero pieces you’ll look forward to pulling out every summer, as well as some you’d be able to enjoy wearing all year round. Keep scrolling and you’ll find links to shop my favourite, elevated picks from the Gucci Love Parade collection…

A navy blazer is a key capsule wardrobe piece, and this is basically perfection.

A subtle GG monogram keeps these shorts looking polished.

How cute would this look with tan leather sandals?

Worn over denim shorts and a tank top, or midi dresses and tailoring for the office, this blazer is ready to be the most versatile piece you own.

Erm, hello!

Add these to your wardrobe if you want to look expensive all summer.

Another forever piece that will transform your spring, summer and autumn wardrobes.

Paired with a simple white T-shirt and blazer, these are summer trouser goals.

Can you tell I’m already starting to plan my autumn outfits? And this blazer is helping.

The understated navy piping, the gold button, the subtle monogram— I can’t get enough.

A beautiful, versatile dress that works for so many occasions.

I’d wear these now with a linen waistcoat or a string bikini on holiday. But you could layer up with cashmere in winter too.

I see this looking particularly chic paired with some high waisted wide-leg blue jeans.

A crisp white shirt is all this timeless midi skirt needs.

Even Gucci’s loud monogram has had a nautical navy and beige update.

This is such an elegant event dress.

A tweed cropped jacket is a timeless wardrobe piece.

Wear it with the matching skirt for a fun twist.

This would look great with classic blue jeans, but I also love it paired with the matching mini skirt below.

I imagine this looking fabulous in the South of France.

So understated, but impactful all the same.

Wear this now with white denim and layer it up with a roll-neck come winter

These will do nicely.

A perfect summer dress that will always make you look polished.
