I’ve Been a Stylist for 20 Years—These Are My Key Summer Wardrobe Staples

You’ve probably heard of celebrity stylist Angie Smith from her work with household names like Holly Willoughby (yes, she’s responsible for creating the buzz around Willoughby’s sell-out looks), Davina McCall and Rochelle Humes. Smith has a gift for making her clients look effortlessly chic, and usually on an affordable budget. She’s an advocate for shopping the high street—often mixing high and low pieces in her styling and her own wardrobe—and her talent for uncovering the best, most expensive-looking finds is unrivalled. Smith herself can often be found sporting buys from the likes of Arket or Marks & Spencer (with whom she recently released a sell-out capsule edit), paired with timeless accessories from Khaite or The Row to elevate them.

If you already follow Smith on Instagram, you’ll be familiar with her feed documenting her life down under (she moved from London to Sydney a few years ago and started a family). The regular beach walks may be envy-inducing, but be sure to stick around for snapshots of her laid-back, accessible style.

Her polished but practical wardrobe choices mean that you can bet whatever she’s wearing, we want to wear it too. In fact, the whole Who What Wear UK team often find ourselves shopping directly from ‘Angie’s Edit’—a regular wish list she shares with all her latest and greatest finds. What we love most about Angie’s style and content, though, is her buy less, wear more mentality. Unlike your average ‘influencer’ approach, Smith uses her expertise to advise on timeless classics and versatile pieces she’ll actively encourage you to wear again and again.

Being based in Australia means she’s become particularly adept at curating a wardrobe full of warm-weather staples, and so I reached out to her to get the inside scoop for Who What Wear readers on the pieces she’s currently recommending to all her clients (and adding to her own basket) for the season ahead.

“M&S does excellent linen pieces, I’ve been wearing this one on repeat.”
